What a weekend for Central Coast juniors riders.
NSW Country Juniors
CCCC had eight riders entered across across 7 grades, it was great to see all the orange in the bunches. All riders that took part has a great time and showed real club spirit in the way the raced.
Congratulations to Kodie Howard on a Bronze medal in the JB13 great effort. Kodie rode a great race with it coming down to the sprint, and he was only beaten in the gallop to the line. Great effort Kodie.
A special mention of Peiden Telfer, who as a first year is showing that the years of racing is paying off with his knowledge on positioning starting to come through. He will be one to watch next year.
The Hunt girls Tegan, Tayla and Brianna had a great ride even though they weren't feeling the best, all are in the first season of road racing and are really starting to show they are learning from every event.
Jessica Field took part in her first rode Open and did it with a smile, and enjoying the experience.
Felicity Hull took part in her first Open also and the little legs made around the track with determination till the end.

Southern Cross Open
Well it was an 8am start at Waratah park and it was cold. There were two races, a criterium and a road race for each grade. Backup for the Sunday racing from first timers Samuel Haynes, Syan Garstang and return rider Monique Hull arrived to bolster the crew from the day before.
Criterium
First race up was Felicity Hull who with a steely look took on the challenge of the circuit. Although not placing she enjoyed the race and had a big smile at the end.
Next saw our biggest grade 11B Boys and Girls with Brianna Hunt, Sam Haynes, Syan Garstang and Jessica Field on the line with the last 3 in their first weekend of racing at opens. A great result in the race from Brianna Hunt taking 3rd and show a real maturity to hold her position in the field. Congrats Brianna

JG13 Had Talya Hunt who still recovering from a cold started in an endeavour to help novice Monique Hull.
As they day went on more joy with the CCCC riders with Peiden Telfer taking 2nd in his first event of the day. To back it up he also took the sprint prime in a strong show of things to come.

JB13A saw Kodie give all but the cold got the better of him but dont count him out as we head to state tittles.
JG15 Tegan Hunt showed that her race skills are coming along with her ability to position in the bunch starting to develop. She road well just finishing outside the places.
Road Race
U9
Felicity started with a promise of her father of $5 if she caught the 3 riders in front of her. Unfortuneatly she didn't make it but is keen to race a state tittle and is determine to go that step faster. (And I still gave her the money)
U11B Boys Girls
Was off with a flurry with all CCCC having a great time, Brianna was in the run until the end where she was just beaten in the sprint for a place. Sam, Syan and Jessica learnt a lot from the days racing and will I am sure be ready for biger things in their coning races.
U13G
A mistake by the Commisaire saw a mix up from the start with Tayla Hunt having to chase the bunch over the first. lap She almost rejoined but the speed around the circuit was just a bit to much. Monique took away from the weekend a real hunger to train before States to show a stronger ride.
U13B Boys
Saw Peiden Telfer take home more cash with a great 2nd place sprint in the road race around the tough number 3 circuit. Next year as he moves to 2nd year in the age group he will be the rider to chase.
Results JB13B 2 TELFER, Peiden JB13 Central Coast CC
U13A Boys
Kodie showed his climbing ability in this rider with a strong showing however the sprinters had the day going a long way out.
U15 Girls
I think Tegan likes the climbs, She held a strong position in the bunch with the sprinters unfortuneatly having the day when it came to the final fling.
A great effort by all CCCC riders with State Tittles in Wagga during August hopefully will will have the same enthusiasm shown and maybe some of the other juniors will join us. Report courtesy of JDO Michael Hull... |
